“All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. 2 Timothy 3:16-17
Comments:
The Bible is the infallible Holy Word of our LORD. That does not mean it gives us everything. For starters, words are limiting. A highest level example: I submit that it is a good thing I will have all eternity to fully comprehend the Triune God, for that is how long it will take me! What’s more, it gives me comfort to embrace that! I trust and obey; we have all that we need.
Another example of clarifying a passage to examine the unclear; letting scripture testify to scripture, our 2 Timothy 3: 16-17 verses:
“Do not judge, so that you won’t be judged.” Matthew 7:1. It appears very clear. But let’s take a look at what Paul said in 1 Corinthians:
“For what is it to me to judge outsiders? Do you not judge those who are inside? But God judges outsiders. Put away the evil person from among yourselves.” 1 Corinthians 5: 12-13
So, one cannot fully understand Matthew 7:1 absent 1 Corinthians 5:12-13. No, we do not judge pagans (future christians), we witness to them, we pray for them, but we do not judge them. They are subject to civil laws and judgement of course, but not to the church. I have heard verse Matthew 7:1 as a retort, often though from christians that have been in the church their entire lives. If I claim I am a christian and I am within the body of Christ, I am very much subject to the “judgement” of the church. In fact, as Paul notes, it is an imperative. Why do we judge one another, because we love one another. (Constructive conflict at a kingdom level)
So, we should vigilantly stand fast with “letting scripture testify to scripture.” This adds emphasis that we should strive to be knowledgable and wise in God’s Word.
I think this article was an excellent precursor to commencing with reading the Bible in a year:

“Let scripture testify to scripture”
I love that reference from Paul. .it focuses on the need to know the word to interpreted the word itself…most and relvant of the questions we have about God have been revealed through the scripture ‘special revelation.
Hebrew 1: 1-2 in the past God spoke thru prophets…..
Isn’t it a previledge we get to discover God at ease through His word today!
Blessing🤗

Indeed Mike! Globally, we have more access to scripture, commentary, and support for our belief all
around us, like never before. “For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required.” Luke 12:48
